i wish to coin a test called the jenny curran test, during which i make someone watch forrest gump (1994) and decide if i trust them or not based on how capable they are of empathizing with jenny's character.

if they vilify her for coping poorly with her trauma or say she's “using” forrest it's an immediate no.

Unhinged Take on why Beth March (Little Women) is insufferable:

I've seen so many bad takes on Beth that I even made a poll about them. The most common one, though, is that she 'needs to die' for reasons from being too good for this world, to having no meaning outside her family, to willing her own death because she's afraid to grow up.

Reason why that's unhinged:

She's a person with flaws, however few and/or small they might be. And saying that "she needs to die" just because she's not a normal girl is just ableist in my opinion.

Unhinged Take on why Jenny Curran (Forrest Gump) is insufferable:

“a selfish, solipsistic, loose, no-morals kind of girl.”

Reason why that's unhinged:

Literally a woman who went through abuse and rape and apologized for any wrongdoing. I have issues with how she's portrayed, the way that she is used shows the conservative bias of the film, but the way she has been made out to be a villain by incels is so bizarre.

i still can’t believe that fucking jenny from forrest gump to some is considered an evil irredeemable villain and is categorised with characters who are murderers……. i’m not saying jenny did no wrong ever but you’d think that people would have more grace for her due to her childhood

I've been on a Forrest Gump thought train for the last few days since I watched it recently. It is still one of my all time favorite movies and Lt. Dan's story hits home so hard. I think my favorite part of the movie is Forrest's friendships with Jenny, Bubba, and Lt. Dan because how heartfelt they all are. But I wanted to drop in and say that this movie's theme is incredibly beautiful and just so calming. I paid a lot of attention to the music on my watch through and was stunned at how pretty the main theme was.

Like, how does this not move you to tears?
